Step 1. Start with the unit completely turned off. Press and hold:
This will turn the unit on and begin to show it working through the loading screens.
Step 2. Once you have successfully loaded the unit, you will see a screen that looks like the one in step 2’s photo. This is your HOME screen.
Step 3. This step is primarily focused on getting you familiar with the buttons needed in the following steps. If you are already aware of these keys, skip to step 4.
NOTE: Moving forward, when these keys are needed to be pressed in further steps, the keys text in the guide will be colored in association with the key it represents on the side.

Step 4. Pressing the Menu key, you will be presented with the screen shown in step 4’s photo. This is your MAIN MENU, which you can interact with by using the scroll knob on the top right of the unit. When scrolling clockwise, it will take you DOWN the list, and counterclockwise will take you UP the list. When you meet the option you wish to select, press and release the scroll knob down.
Step 5. Using the scroll wheel, turn it clockwise until you reach the option “SET YOUR LOCATION” then press in on the scroll knob.
Step 6. You will be brought to a new screen as shown in step 6’s photo. Find the option labeled “Enter Zip Code” and press down on the scroll knob.
Step 7. After following steps 5 and 6, you will be brought to the screen shown in step 7. Choose your associated country as it pertains to you.
Step 8. After selecting your country, you will need to enter your zip code using the number pad on the scanner, and after entering in the numbers associated, pressing the “E” key on your keypad. If you do not know your current zip code, you can look up your city via your preferred search engine.
Step 9. Once you have successfully entered in your zip code, you will see your unit begin to process it, looking for your database. During this process refrain from any additional key presses and allow the unit to finish.
Step 10. After the above loading screen prompt has completed, you will be brought back to your HOME screen from step 2. You should now see text on the screen for your local counties, departments, and channels within your zip code.
Step 11. After you have confirmed that the above steps have been successful, press the MENU key on the side of the unit to be brought back to the MAIN MENU.
Step 12. Using the scroll knob rotate it clockwise until you reach the option “SELECT SERVICE TYPES” as shown in step 12’s photo and select it.
Step 13. Once selected, you will be presented with the various service types that are available for listening. When in this menu, you can scroll to all the various types, and if there is something you do or do not wish to listen to press down on the scroll knob to turn it on or off.
Note: For this example in the photo, I will be turning off all services besides LAW DISPATCH, LAW TAC, and LAW TALK.
Step 14. After turning the systems you want on or off, press the MENU key to be brought back to the previous screen. Now scroll down to the option labeled “Manage Favorites”.
Note: All the systems you previously turned on/off will remain this way until you change this at a later date.
Step 15. Initially, you will see a prompt saying, “NEW FAVORITES LIST”. After selecting this option, you will be presented with the menu shown in step 15’s photo.
Step 16. Turn your scroll knob until the option “ADD CURRENT DB CHANNELS” is highlighted, then press down on the scroll knob to select it.
Step 17. Once the above step is complete you will be prompted with the screen shown in step 17’s photo. To confirm that you want to save these preferences to the favorites list, press the “E” key directly above the power button.
Step 18. Once you have confirmed all of the preferences, you will be presented with the loading bars showing that it is being saved to your favorites list.
NOTE: If after the loading is completed and your HOME screen is blank, press the key circled in the photo. It will prompt the screen to return to listening functions.
